Fonts and Tables

Tips for Growing your Tech Skills # 9

Are you constantly changing fonts because you don’t like the one that is the default in your Microsoft Office Word program?

You can change the default font very easily. Here’s the procedure:
  • Open Word.
  • Stay a document (type a few words)
  • At the top of your screen, select “Format”
  • From the drop-down screen, select “Font”
  • Choose the Font and the Size you want to use as your default.
  • On the bottom left of the window, select “Default”
  • This will bring up a message asking you if you want to change your default to the new font. Select “Yes”
Done.

Don’t worry if you don’t like your new look. Using the same procedure, you can always change back.

Don’t Be Afraid of Tables

Want to set up a grading rubric? Need to make an inventory? Creating tables in Word is easy.
  • Open Word.
  • Type the title for your table (or anything else you want above it. (I say this because it is a pain to insert text above a table at the top of the page.)
  • At the top of the “Tool Bar”, select “Table”
  • From the drop-down menu, choose “Insert Table”
  • From the pop-up window, select the number of rows and columns you need in your table.
